2017 Advocacy Day legislative priorities

Wildlife Funding

AB 18 (E. Garcia): $3 billion for parks and natural resource management in California.

AB 798 (E. Garcia): Additional legislative direction and oversight on addressing the crisis at the Salton Sea.

SB 5 (De León): $3 billion for parks and water projects in California.

SB 615 (Hueso): Additional legislative direction and oversight on addressing the crisis at the Salton Sea.

AB 1617 (Bloom): Would create a permanent revenue stream to fund DFW mandates that are currently unfunded.

Protecting California’s Natural Resources (“Green Shield”)

SB 49 (De León): Creates a baseline for clean water, clean air, and endangered species in California. If federal rules are less protective than the State’s, then the state will enforce its own rules.

SB 50 (Allen): Protects public lands by requiring the State to have a right of first refusal on any federal lands that the federal government attempts to sell in California.

SB 51 (Jackson): Protects science and whistleblowers.

Climate Change

AB 378 (E. Garcia): Extends California’s Cap and Trade Program to reduce emissions and offset impacts.
