Audubon California supports delisting for Peregrine Falcon

Audubon California staff in June convened a forum of Peregrine Falcon experts to discuss the proposed delisting of the Peregrine Falcon from the state Endandered Species List. Based on this forum, coupled with our own independent analysis, we determined that a strong scientific case exists for the delisting of this subspecies. Audubon California has decided to support the delisting, provided that subsequent follow-up activities are built into the decision to ensure that population monitoring remains a part of the on-going peregrine management effort. Read our letter to the California Department of Fish and Game, as well as a more detailed memorandum on the issue.
