Giving thanks to our volunteers

Today I was reminded that volunteers are the backbone of our community and we should celebrate the contribution they make to our society every single day.

This #GivingTuesday I am giving thanks to the volunteers that serve at the Audubon Center at Debs Park. We rely heavily on volunteers for the delivery of our services and projects and saying we wouldn’t be able to function without them would be an understatement.

The work these volunteers do is mind-boggling and inspirational. Every day volunteers are making a difference at the Center or in someone’s life. From the ones that water our plants growing in the nursery to those that pick up trash along trails, refill our humming bird feeders, organize books in the library and sometimes just offer smiles to our Center visitors, the Center wouldn’t run smoothly without the generosity of these community members.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the natural beauty of Los Angeles, or to find a group of environmentally-minded people, I encourage you to come and stop by the Center. You never know who you might meet, what skills you might learn, or what new opportunities may come your way.

We post our opportunities and events on our Facebook page, visit us there.
