S.F. Bay oil spill's impact still not clear

Although nine months have passed since the Cosco Busan spilled 50,000 gallons of bunker fuel into San Francisco Bay, it will still be several more months before the impacts of the spill are fully understood. As Golden Gate Audubon's Eli Sadler tells the Examiner, many of the birds affected by the spill are migratory and won't be seen until the fall. The article notes that, according to the California Department of Fish and Game, about 2,500 oiled birds from more than 50 species were collected. Of the 1,084 birds found alive, just 421 survived.
