Word out of last Friday's California Fish and Game Commission meeting is that commissioners voted to remove the California Brown Pelican from the state endangered species list. This is the first species to be removed from the list. Audubon California decided last year to support a similar effort from the Department of the Interior to delist the Brown Pelican at the national level. California Brown Pelicans have bounced back very well since the 1970s, when DDT nearly wiped them out.
