Volunteers from Google Irvine in late June braved incredible Southern California heat to help fix up buildings at the Audubon Starr Ranch Sanctuary in Orange County. The group of about fifteen volunteers removed termite infested siding from the historic Starr Ranch bunkhouse, prepping it for the installation of new Hardiplank cement siding later this summer. The new siding will be both fire as well as termite resistant. During the year our riparian assistants, who help with monitoring and restoration in Bell Creek, live in the bunkhouse. Next up, Starr Ranch "main house" where the upland field crew stays. Thanks Google Irvine volunteers!
