L.A. County trying out new bird-friendly landscaping plan

Great story today out of the Los Angeles Times about Los Angeles County's new effort to protect breeding birds at its park. In the past, brush clearing and tree trimming proceeded without any concern for nesting birds -- and a lot of damage was done. Now, the county is trying a new bird-friendly approach at its busiest park, Whittier Narrows. Which also happens to be an Audubon Important Bird Area.
