Memories of Owens Lake

The story of Owens Lake is one of the more fascinating histories that one will find in this great state of ours. And that story is one in which birds play a major role. As we've discussed on these pages, Audubon California has been active working with local Audubon chapters to secure vital bird habitat at Owens. We'll have more to say about that in the near future, but in the meantime, there's this great new piece on Design Observer about the history of the lake and what the future may hold. The photo above is of our own Kerry Wilcox during a recent Big Day at the lake.
