Hey, California has oil platforms, too. And oil tankers moving up and down the coast, and in our major harbors. So with the Gulf oil spill in the background, and the 2007 Cosco Busan oil spill in everyone's memory, experts from government agencies and concerned nonprofits gathered in Oakland yesterday to talk about response plans in San Francisco Bay. Representatives from Audubon California were there. You might recall that the Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary was very much involved in the Cosco Busan response, and we will certainly be there next time looking out for birds. The overall mood at yesterday's meeting was that more needed to be done to make sure that S.F. Bay is prepared for the next big spill.
