What the Mating Behavior of Birds Can Teach Us About Corporate Decision Making

An article in SPE Economics & Management by John Lehman, Strategic Decisions Group, argues that instead of using decision theory to predict decisions in a corporate setting fails because it doesn't take into account biology and environment. Decision theory is an alternative to probability and is concerned with identifying the values, uncertainties and other issues relevant in a given decision, itsrationality, and the resulting optimal decision. Lehman proposes using the model that biologists use to study the mating behavior of birds. He suggests "that improved understanding of the forces that impact the evolution of corporate decision processes may allow decision theory to come closer to achieving its potential."

We're interested to see what species of birds would do best in the board room.
