See President Obama announce his historic recommendation for permanent protection for the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge! This is the first time any administration has publicly supported protection for the critical coastal plain of the Arctic Refuge. The announcement bolstered the US Fish & Wildlife Service's Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the refuge. While only Congress can designate Wilderness, this is the biggest step in that direction in decades and deserves some celebration, and a big thank you!
