Audubon California and Audubon chapters will be taking part in Earth Day activities all around the state. Because Earth Day falls on a Wednesday this year, you'll find Earth Day activities going on all week. Below the fold are a few highlights. Saturnday, April 18
The Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary will hold an Earth Day Restoration Party at the Center from 9 to 11 a.m. The event is free of charge and al ages are welcome. Activities include restoring habitat, cleaning up beaches, and improving trails. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Center will host a Worm Bin Workshop. The cost is $40 (includes bin & starter worms). Advance registration required. Appropriate for families or individuals. For more information, visit the website.
Sunday, April 19
The Santa Barbara Audubon Society will have a booth at the South Coast Earth Day Festival in Santa Barbara’s Alameda Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit: http://www.communityenvironmentalcouncil.org/Events/earthday
Golden Gate Audubon will honor Earth Day by inviting volunteers to join them at Pier 94 in San Francisco to continue restoration of local wetlands from 10 am to 2 pm. Thursday, April 23
The Fresno Audubon Society will host a talk entitled “The False Dichotomy of Fish versus People: A Talk on the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta,” at 7 p.m. in the Sarah McCardle Room of the Fresno Downtown Library at 2420 Mariposa Street. The talk will be given by Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla, the Campaign Director for Restore the Delta. She will discuss the consequences, causes, and proposed solutions for Delta collapse.
