Staffers from Audubon California are participating in today's Christmas Bird Count on Tejon Ranch. Before Audubon and four other environmental organizations struck a landmark conservation agreement with the Tejon Ranch Company in 2008, the natural treasures of this pristine wilderness were off limits to researchers. Since that agreement, however, Audubon has been able to add a Christmas Bird Count to the site. Pictured above is Mia Moawad Forcier taking cover in an old abandoned pickup. The group reported spotting a Pinon Jay on Tejon -- a first for the ranch. (photo by Andrea Jones)
