Conservation coalition considering ballot initiative to create funding for state parks

A coalition of conservation organizations and nonprofits that includes Audubon California is considering putting an initiative before the voters to create funding for California State Parks, which have seen a number of significant cuts in recent years. The coalition has filed text with the Attorney General's office, but will not make a final determination on launching the initiative until after Attorney General determines official title and summary. The funding for parks would be created through a $18 vehicle license fee, which would in turn give drivers free entry into all state parks, many of which now charge for access.
