The Environmental Protection Agency has struck a tentative settlement to restrict the use of dozens of pesticides in Bay Area habitat zones that host sensitive species. The agreement was in response to a lawsuit filed by the Center for Biological Diversity. Counties covered by the agreement are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solana and Sonoma. Among the species involved is the California Clapper Rail, an Audubon Watchlist species. (photo by Glen Tepke)
