The Audubon Kern River Preserve will hold its annual Fall Turkey Vulture Festival this weekend, Sept. 26 and 27. The event celebrates the height of fall Turkey Vulture migration through California's "Valley Wild," the Kern River Valley, one of the two largest known migration sites in North America (north of Mexico). The event also coincides with a time of peak birding for a variety of species that migrate through the Kern River Valley in the fall, so it's a great time to get outside. The event also features booths, exhibits, workshops, and children's activities. Below is a video shot last year by Alison Sheehey of Turkey Vultures circling over the event:
