The Golden Gate Audubon Society is rallying its members and partners this week to encourage the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to shoot down a proposed bridge over the Yosemite Slough wetlands restoration area. If approved, the bridge will span the Yosemite Slough wetlands restoration area and introduce pollution, traffic, food waste, lights, and noise into the slough ecosystem. A recent study by the Golden Gate Audubon Society found a huge diversity of birds in this area, including Black Oystercatcher, Long-billed Curlew, American Avocet, and 115 others. San Francisco Bay has already lost too much wetland habitat to development. We don’t have to put this promising wildlife area at risk. If you live in San Francisco, you can help out by sending a note to the Supervisors encouraging them to vote against the bridge.
