Voting has begun for Audubon California's 2009 Bird of the Year. We want to highlight a bird of conservation interest that not only made news in 2009, but also helped rally people together on its behalf. The nominees, as selected by the Audubon California Board are the California Condor (pictured above), Brown Pelican, Peregrine Falcon, Acorn Woodpecker, Yellow-billed Magpie, and Western Snowy Plover. If you think another bird deserves the honor, you're welcome to vote for another. Voting runs through Dec. 7, and those who leave us their email addresses will be the first to learn about the winner. Happy voting!
