In an effort to support the conservation of one of our key Watchlist species, Audubon California is partnering with PRBO Conservation Science so sponsor a survey of Long-billed Curlew in California’s Central Valley. Today was the first day of the effort, and monitors will be out there through Monday. This particular survey is being done during the species’ nonbreeding season to gather vital information about population sizes and habitat preferences, as well as to identify threats in this region. We'll let you know when we have the results from this effort. (photo by Alison Sheehey)
