Marvel comics birder superhero coming to a theater soon!

The upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, based on the Marvel comics superhero Captain America, is slated for release in spring 2013. Comic geek birders should also rejoice because one of the other superheros joining the story line is Falcon. Falcon is rumored to be played by Anthony Mackie, not a bad choice in our opinion. Falcon was introduced to Marvel readers in 1969, and not surprisingly the character touched upon the year's political unrest. Not only was Falcon the first major African-American superhero, but he was one of the first major birder superheros. The character grew up in Harlem with a passion for birds. When Falcon, born Samuel Thomas Wilson, becomes Falcon he is given the responsibility for the protection of all birds. Among Falcon's superpowers are the ability to "link-up" with birds (see what they see, access their memories), to fly, and telepathy. We can't wait to see another birder on the big screen!
