Spotting an Indigo Bunting during spring migration is a pretty cool, particularly when you’re out West. While the bird is fairly commonly seen in the East, out here its downright rare. But it can be done. The Indigo Bunting makes a pretty noteworthy migration each spring, traveling all the way from Southern Mexico and Central America to breeding territory almost entirely in the eastern half of the country. But they do bust west on occasion. In fact, we're seeing a few recent sightings at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in the Central Valley.
