The San Francisco Examiner has quite a screed on its website agains the wind power industry and its record on bird kills (Fair warning, the link article contains lots of photos of mutilated birds). There is lots of interesting information in the article. We want to make it clear that Audubon California believes that climate change is the single biggest threat to birds, and that wind power generation shows incredible promise as a strategy to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. We also believe that wind generation can be properly planned and sited to avoid the kinds of impacts described in this article.
