The U.S. Interior Department today released the second of its State of the Birds reports today. This new document focuses on the impacts of climate change on the nation’s birds, and finds that it will have an increasingly disruptive effect on bird species in all habitats, with oceanic and Hawaiian birds in greatest peril. The report was put together by the Interior Department with the help of Audubon and other leading conservation organizations. Audubon California last year looked at the potential impact of climate change on California birds and found that up to 110 of 310 native bird species will experience significant reductions in their geographic range in the next several decades due to climate change.
