Luke Cole, an environmental justice pioneer and prominent birder, died last weekend while driving in Uganda. Here's the story in the New York Times. Cole was the executive director and co-founder of the Center on Race, Poverty and the Environment, based in San Francisco. Many in the Audubon community knew Cole well and will miss him greatly.
