Although we like all California birds, the Brown Pelican has a special place in our hearts here at Audubon California -- we consider the species an integral part of our beautiful California coastlines. Although the bird came off the Endangered Species List in 2009, the Brown Pelican still doesn't have it easy. Its plight is being artfully documented in the film "Pelican Dreams." We've seen preview clips of the film and have supported the filmmaker Judy Irving's efforts to bring this important story to theaters. Irving recently opened up a Kickstarter campaign to support the film, and there are 23 days left.
