Audubon California supports the statewide effort to establish marine protect areas because we feel these protections are essential to the survival of struggling seabird populations. For that reason, we're pleased to hear news that the discussions on the north coast section of the state -- from Mendocino to the Oregon border -- have produced a compromise plan to meets the needs of conservationists as well as fishing and recreational interests. More to come on this, for sure.
