A Mississippi Kite can be seen at Dairy Mart Pond in San Diego. The bird of prey is typically seen in the central and southern part of the United States. It migrates to South America during the winter and returns north to breed in the spring. Their nests are easy to see east of the Mississippi and the Kites' territory is expanding, as evident from the San Diego sighting. Be cautious if you encounter a Mississippi Kite as they will attack anyone or thing they view as a threat.
