Birders up north are all aflutter about the recently spotted Snowy Owl. This showy owl does not normally make its home in California and its presence coincides with several other high profile rare bird sightings in Humboldt County. If you're looking to make a birding trip to score some lifers, the North Coast is the place to go. As someone on Facebook put it, there now exists the opportunity to see 12 owl species in Humboldt County. All these photos were taken by Brad Asael Elvert.
