Sandhill Cranes continuing to head out

California's Sandhill Cranes are among the birds that spend the winter in the state, but then head north to breed in the spring and summer. The Golden State's Sandhill Cranes have been on the move for several weeks now, as evidenced by this spectacular footage of the great birds lifting off en masse from the Central Valley just a couple weeks ago. California's Sandhill Cranes typically go to one of two places in the spring: California's Surprise Valley (far northeast corner of the state, and Alaska.
