A recent agreement between the Navy and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service on a deal to transfer the decommissioned Skaggs Island Naval Station to the nearby San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a tremendous advance for conservation in the Bay Area. Audubon California is doing some important restoration work in nearby Tubbs Island, and we're pleased to see even more of this essential land moved into the conservation ledger. Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey was very much involved in the discussions leading to the deal, and has more information on her website.
