Although park advocates weren't able to find a legislative solution to the planned closure of up to 100 California State Parks, they were able to send two bills to the Governor's desk that would establish a new policy in state law calling for no new loss of state park lands in California. Given the planned closures, and the state's desperation for new revenue, these bills are vitally important to protecting the valuable habitat and open space on park land. The Governor has until October 11 to sign or veto the bills. The California State Parks Foundation has an online campaign going to send letters to the Governor asking him to sign these bills into law. Take a moment and send a letter.
