Garrison Frost was recently interviewed on the website GreenXC talking about the importance of national and state parks in continuing our nation's tradition of connecting with birds and nature. There's also a great deal of conversation about the National Audubon Society and its efforts to connect with a new generation of bird and nature enthusiasts:
We are really trying to change the mindset of birds being pretty, but not very exciting. The truth is that birds can be really awesome. Everyone has seen the video of that bald eagle grabbing trout out of the lake. There are few things in nature that you can watch that are cooler than that. So it’s not just all fluffy birds, the world of birds is really dynamic, it’s one of the few forms of wildlife that just about everyone sees every day. It’s just a matter of reaching people in a way that they are used to being reached.
