Tight budget keeps state parks on the brink

It was quite a celebration last year when Gov. Schwarzenegger announced that he was abandoning his plan to close state parks. The celebration was short-lived, however, when folks realized that the system would still fall prey to steep cuts that would results in delayed maintenance, greatly reduced hours, service reductions, and much more. In today's San Francisco Chronicle, reporter Peter Fimrite looks at the impact of these cuts on a system already on the brink. Needless to say, the California Parks system cannot continue like this, and that's why Audubon California supports the State Parks Initiative.
