Top 10 reasons to vote for Bird of the Year

This post is for all those people who have heard about Audubon California's Bird of the Year campaign, but just can't think of a reason to detach from all the super important stuff they're doing to take part. Maybe they're into birds, but just can't put down the binoculars for the 15 seconds necessary to vote. Or maybe, they never really thought about birds that much, and well, would rather spend time tweeting about the latest episode of Scandal. Thankfully, this post puts it all into clear perspective. Everyone should vote now, and vote often through Dec. 6. The Top 10 reasons to do so are below:

10. Finally, an election where you actually like all of the candidates.

9. The birds would vote for you if they could.

8, No attack ads. But if there were attack ads, they would be really cool.

7. There are no losers. This campaign raises awareness about the plight of all birds.

6. When you vote, the birds burst into song.*

5. Just look at the photo of the Golden Eagle up there. Seriously, look at it. All the candidates are like that.

4. This year, we are offering two new categories: Comeback Kid, which honors birds that have bounced back from adversity; and Cutest Fluffy Fluff, which honors those birds that are just ridiculously adorable.

3. If you vote, the birds will not poo on your car for one year.**

2. Because, admit it, you wish you could fly, too.

1. Voting is an elegant way to demonstrate that birds are important to you.

** Good luck with that.
