On November 20, the US House of Representatives passed a terrible bill, HR 1965, which tears down the recent broadly-supported Department of Interior management plan balancing protection of 11 MILLION ACRES important for birds, wildlife, and subsistence with development in other areas of the National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska. Many thanks to Representatives Rush Holt, Betty McCollum, and John Dingell for leading the House fight against this harmful proposed rollback of protection and sending a strong signal to the Senate that this bill is a bad idea.
