If you've been following us for a while, you know that we at Audubon California have kind of thing for the Vaux's Swift. There's really nothing quite like seeing them pile into a chimney at dusk. And no one here is more into them than Jeff Chapman, the director of our Audubon Center at Debs Park in Los Angeles. Chapman has been one of the main people spreading the word about a roosting site at the Chester Williams Building in downtown Los Angeles, and he's itching to see them again this spring. Now, typically the spring migrations of Vaux's Swifts are a little more dispersed than the fall arrival, but we should see some interesting things. And they're on their way -- check out the eBird maps from February and most recently in March. For a preview, check out this video that Chapman shot a couple years ago in downtown L.A.:
