We were thoroughly entertained by Lisa's description of her encounter with a Red-naped Sapsucker:
I rocketed over to Henry Cowell on Tuesday afternoon to find the RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER. It was about 2:00 pm. I felt thwarted and disheartened after no luck. I went back to move my car from the Roaring Camp parking lot to the Henry Cowell parking lot. I did this because I was the last one there and I felt weird about having a lone car there. (Plus, I have a State Park Pass.) Luckily, it was totally worth it because I got excellent views and nice photos of a stunningly lovely pair of Common Mergansers on the pond that were not there on my initial pass in Roaring Camp. more
