In a landmark case, a wind energy company operating in Wyoming has pleaded guilty to killed Golden Eagles. Golden Eagles are a protected species, and this is the first time the law has been enforced against a wind farm. In its plea agreement with the federal government, Duke Energy has agreed to pay a $1 million fine for killing 14 eagles and 149 other birds at two Wyoming wind farms.
