The problem of Nature Deficit Disorder

Interesting article in the San Francisco Chronicle today about a recent report encouraging youth participation in National State Parks. Those familiar with Audubon understand that we have made nature education a central tenet of our mission. This is because we understand that if we want to secure the environmental protections that we have won, we need to instill a love of nature in our young people. This was articulated elegantly in a post by former Audubon California Executive Director Glenn Olson called "The Future of Conservation." Make no mistake: nature education is conservation.
