Governor vetos State Park protection bills

While Audubon California is greatly pleased that its anti-poaching bill was signed into law over the weekend, we were disappointed that two bills that sought to protect State Park property from development, Senate Bills 679 and 372. Nothing illustrated the need for this legislation more than the recent proposal to build a toll road extension through the very popular San Onofre State Park. And given the ongoing budget threats to State Parks, this type of protection is sorely needed. Here's a statement from the California State Parks Foundation.
