The Farallon Islands, just off the coast of San Francisco, have been called "California's Galapagos," and for good reason. The federally protected islands house the largest population of breeding seabirds in the contiguous United States. Quest, a program of KQED, visited the islands recently, and reported on the efforts of PRBO Conservation Science to study and protect the birds there. The Faralons are an Audubon Important Bird Area.
