'Wild Justice' highlights work of California's brave game wardens

It’s one thing to pass all sorts of laws protecting birds and wildlife, but it’s a whole other thing to enforce those laws. And in California, that duty typically falls upon the shoulders of a small but dedicated corps of game wardens, fewer than 300 of which are charged with patrolling millions of acres of wildlands and shoreline in California. It’s hard to imagine what their jobs are like, but a new program on the National Geographic Channel, “Wild Justice,” gives us close look. Cameras follow wardens on patrol working everything from poaching investigations to illegal drug use/possession, stolen vehicles and illegal marijuana cultivation. Audubon California has long supported our courageous game wardens and this program reminds us just how much we owe them. The next episode airs this Saturday night.
