Somehow we neglected to report this when it happened, but the California Fish and Game Commission last week adopted a set of Marine Protected Areas for the Southern California coast. This is a very big deal for marine birds, as they depend on these ecosystems for breeding and foraging. We'll have more in the next day or so.
