It seems kind of nerdy to have a vote for Bird of the Year on their website, but California Audubon's strategy seems to fit with Audubon's goals nationally. And I think Audubon's social media driven marketing is pretty interesting. It's a savvy ploy, and it takes some balls, to say, "we've got a lot of older, white people in our group. We like those people, but we want to add some new ones, to change that to reflect the communities we're in."
