Bird feeding frenzy at Point Richmond

We were out at the Miller Knox shoreline in Point Richmond last week and caught this impressive feeding frenzy of marine birds. Lots of great birds in the video, including scoters, scaup, gulls, ducks and more. Enjoy:

This incredible wildlife spectacle happens several times every winter when the herring run, and roe is plentiful. The video really highlights how important herring are to marine birds. That is why Audubon California has joined with other conservation organizations to help protect this important resource for birds. San Francisco Bay is the largest herring run in California, but it is in the midst of a long-term decline that is having a negative impact on our birds.
