The Redbud Audubon Society in Lake County has a special affinity for the Western Grebe. They recently installed a webcam on Clear Lake that broadcasts live feed of Western Grebes as they court, build nests, and incubate eggs. The webcam is a valuable tool for educating the public about the need to protect nesting sites – Redbud Audubon is one of several chapters working with Audubon California to monitor and protect grebes in northern California lakes.
