We're seeing a lot of talk on the listservs about a Common Cuckoo in Watsonville, CA. While the bird isn't exactly rare, it's extremely unusual to see it here in California. This is a bird that normally frequents Europe and Asia, though once in a while a migrant will fly off course to the United States, which is probably what happened here. Dinuk Magammana has seen the bird and taken some photos. Posted above is more of a stock image, by Chris Romeiks.
