One of the founders of Alaska conservation, Virginia "Ginny" Wood, recently passed away at the age of 95. A pioneering woman aviator during World War II, outdoor guide, homesteader, and conservation leader, Ginny's legacy includes helping establish the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and founding Camp Denali lodge, one of the first ecotourism businesses in Alaska.

Audubon Alaska's board president Simon Hamm and his wife now run Camp Denali, carrying on the tradition of offering an incredible place to experience Denali National Park and the wildlife and birds of the region.
