The goal is to initiate a new, long-term, biannual community science-based survey to help understand the abundance and distribution of Brown Pelicans in California, Oregon, and Washington. This survey will complement a 47-year time series of productivity monitoring data at the U.S. Channel Islands and a shorter, but also robust, data set in Mexico. Specific questions to be answered are:

• What is the size and spatial distribution of the Brown Pelican population along the coast?
• What is the age structure of the population and how is it changing?
• What is the relationship between productivity at U.S. and Mexico breeding colonies and recruitment?
