President Trump’s executive order directing the Department of Interior to review the status of national monuments puts habitat for several federally threatened or endangered birds in California at risk. We took a quick look at the monuments in California and came up with the following federally threatened or endangered birds that use these landscapes:

San Gabriel Mountains National Monument:

  • California Condor
  • Least Bell's Vireo
  • Southwestern Willow Flycatcher

Carrizo Plain National Monument:

  • California Condor

Sand to Snow National Monument:

  • Least Bell's Vireo
  • Southwestern Willow Flycatcher

Santa Rosa and San Joaquin Mountains National Monument:

  • Southwestern Willow Flycatcher
